Turmeric Fingers (whole rhizomes of Curcuma longa) are the primary export form of turmeric from India. BillionBird exports two varieties: Erode (Tamil Nadu) — the internationally recognised premium variety with the highest curcumin content — and Nizamabad (Telangana) — a high-yield variety with strong domestic and GCC institutional demand. Both are available as polished or unpolished fingers.
Curcumin content is the primary quality determinant for turmeric buyers. A buyer specifying "Grade A turmeric" without a curcumin content specification is accepting significant quality risk — Indian turmeric curcumin content ranges from 1.5% to 4.5% depending on variety and processing. We state the curcumin content on the COA and lock it as the golden sample reference. Buyers know exactly what they are getting before the container loads.
Erode variety sourced from Erode District, Tamil Nadu — the globally recognised origin for high-curcumin turmeric. Nizamabad variety sourced from Nizamabad District, Telangana. Both sourcing regions have documented soil and climate conditions that produce consistent curcumin content across seasons.
Food safety: turmeric has historically been a target for lead chromate adulteration in some Indian processing facilities. All BillionBird turmeric lots are tested for heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic) as part of the standard SGS/Intertek MRL panel. We do not sell adulterated turmeric — and we document that it is not.
Cleaned, dried to moisture specification, polished (for polished fingers), and Sortex sorted for foreign matter removal. No artificial colouring agents added. SGS/Intertek inspection commissioned before containerisation.
SGS or Intertek COA on every lot: curcumin content %, volatile oil %, moisture %, foreign matter %, heavy metals (Pb, Cd, As), and 200-parameter pesticide MRL panel. Container sealed at inspection.
GCC spice importers and food manufacturers using turmeric as a food colouring and spice ingredient. EU importers requiring MRL-compliant Indian turmeric with heavy metal testing. Nutraceutical buyers requiring documented curcumin content. South Asian food processors.
